Grow4autism: Networking - Cooperation - Empowerment - Sustainability

The grow4autism project: Networking - Cooperation - Empowerment - Sustainability is implemented in the framework of the Active citizens fund program, with the Center for Children and Adolescents as the implementing body and the Greek Society for Autistic Persons (EEPAA) as a partner.

The project aims to create a network of associations for people with autism, parents/carers and providers of services to people with autism and their families, the functional interconnection between members, the strengthening of the skills and training of the network members as well as the exchange and development of good practices.

The Department created in 2017 and supports the operation of the first guide for autism in Greece, autismap.gr. The website is the result of the mapping of structures and services as well as the law related to people with autism in our country. The website’s content currently covers the available structures and services for autistic people, the relevant legislation as well as articles for the general public written by scientists with experience in autism, and it is regularly and systematically updated. Furthermore is establishes partnerships with agencies active in similar or complementary fields and plans to further develop and expand its content and activities.

For the activities of autismap.gr the CCA was awarded as the NGO of the year in the “Society" category - For a more autism-friendly society"- at the Responsible Business Awards 2021 and respectively in 2022 at the BRAVO AWARDS it received the first prize in the pillar "Society"

Our aim is to support the rights and social inclusion of people with autism and their families, to enhance their accessibility to appropriate structures and services, and to combat stigma.

Goals

  1. 1. To provide a support tool for people with ASD and their families to help them
  • to quickly, easily and free of charge locate the appropriate services near their place of residence
  • to take advantage of existing legal provisions and claim their rights and have their needs met

2. To create a database and support

  • the networking of services and informing scientists/professionals working in the field of ASD, in order to indirectly contribute to the improvement of the services provided.
  • the rational planning of the necessary services and the more comprehensive deployment of resources.

3. To provide accurate information to the community and specific groups of the population, to promote

  • the fight against the stigma and social exclusion of people with ASD and their families
  • the social inclusion and, more broadly, social acceptance and cohesion
